Cross Country Adds Forest Park's Cooper
University of Evansville cross country coach Don Walters has announced the addition of Ferdinand, Indiana native and Forest Park High School standout Alison Cooper to his 2008 women’s roster.

Cooper was a three-time all-conference selection while at Forest Park High School for head coach Josh Susott’s Rangers.  Cooper earned team Most Valuable Runner honors in both 2005 and 2007, while also earning back-to-back Mental Attitude awards and helping the 2007 squad to a 12th-place finish at the Indiana Semi-State meet.

“Alison is someone who has been very well-coached and has a lot of potential,” said Walters.  “She has already shown to be very capable of running at the 5-K distance, and I think that when she steps up to the college level, she will show that she is very capable of competing at the Division I level.”

Cooper posted a season-best 5-K time of 20:12 at this past fall’s Pocket Athletic Conference Championships, and also finished second out of over 150 runners at the Mater Dei Invitational.  Cooper hopes to major in pre-medicine at UE.

Cooper will join a UE women’s cross country team that will return 10 runners this fall.  The 2008 cross country season will kick off on Saturday, August 30 at the 2008 Mid-America Opener hosted by UE.  The season will begin at 10:00 a.m.
