NORMAL, Ill. – #Kelby Jenkins
and Josh Genet# led their respective squads as the University of Evansville cross country teams competed in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships today at Weilbring Golf Course.
Jenkins came in fourth place on the women’s side as she shattered her previous personal record by 10 seconds as she completed the 5K in a time of 17:38. On the men’s side it was sophomore
Josh Genet leading the way for UE in the 8K as his run of 24:58 was a PR for him as it was it was over 20 seconds faster than his previous best.
Genet helped the UE men come in seventh place with a score of 157. Southern Illinois narrowly took top honors, finishing with a 34 while beating out Indiana State, who tallied a 40. Wichita State was third with a 96.
The women came home in eighth place with a 179 while Illinois State took first place in dominant fashion, scoring a 45 while taking four of the top eight spots. Wichita State took second with an 83.
Cody Stein came in 21
st place for the men with a time of 25:27, setting a PR by six seconds.
Andrew Barrett took 36
th place on the strength of a 25:49.
Brady Hall came in 46
th while
Jon Ashby as just a spot behind. John Mascario of Indiana State won the race in a time of 24:21.
Lauren Zeabart was the second Ace across the strip as she took 35
th place running a time of 18:44 while
Elizabeth Kingshott finished in 42nd place .
Maria Lynn took 51
st with a PR of 19:19 while
Nicole Kreuzman came in 53
rd with a time of 19:24.
Aliphine Tuliamuk-Bolton of Wichita State blitzed the competition as her time of 16:59 was 32 seconds ahead of second-place Rachael Brewer of Illinois State.
The Aces now look ahead to the NCAA’s which are set for November 9.
