Final Results
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – In the second and final round of the SIUE Intercollegiate, the University of Evansville women’s golf team registered a 347 to finish in fifth place at the event held at Sunset Hills Country Club.
Sydney Skiles led the Purple Aces as she came home in a tie for ninth place. The junior carded an 87 in Tuesday’s final round to finish with a 166 for the tournament. Sophomore
Dana Hayden had the top finish of her collegiate career as she led UE with an 86 on Tuesday en route to a tie for 21
st.
Freshman
Paige Crafton notched an 87 on her way to a tie for 29
th with a 173 while
Cathy Doyle finished the event with a 2-round score of 182.
Kelly Lamarche was two strokes behind with a 184.
Southern Illinois swept the top spot on the individual and team sides. The Salukis extended their advantage after round one to finish with a 21-shot victory. SIU shot a 641 for the two rounds while Lipscomb came in second place with a 662. Nebraska-Omaha took third place with a 673 while SIU Edwardsville (682) and Evansville (686) rounded out the top five.
Amy Lee of SIU took medalist honors as she shot a 3-over 75 on Tuesday to mark the lowest round for any player in the tournament. She finished just ahead of Savanna Schubert from Lipscomb, who notched a 156.
Next up for UE will be a trip to Indianapolis for the Butler Intercollegiate. Highland Country Club will play host to the tournament, which is set to take place on October 8 and 9.
