University of Evansville junior infielder Cody Fick (Freeburg, Mo./Fatima H.S./Jefferson College) is this week’s Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week, after he hit an even .500 with two doubles, two home runs, and nine RBI in UE’s five games against Austin Peay and Southern Illinois.

 

Fick began his week by going a perfect 3-for-3 and finishing a triple shy of the cycle in UE’s 11-7 victory over Austin Peay. He then launched his second home run of the week on Friday afternoon at Southern Illinois with a grand slam which keyed UE’s nine-run eighth inning explosion in UE’s 14-2 victory over the Salukis. Fick then wrapped up his week by going 3-for-4 with a double and two runs driven in on Sunday at Southern Illinois.

 

For the week, Fick went 9-for-18 at the plate with the four extra-base hits, five runs scored and nine RBI. He posted a .944 slugging percentage and a .524 on-base percentage, while handling all 13 defensive chances at third base without an error.

 

On the season, Fick leads the Missouri Valley Conference with 17 home runs, while also ranking among the league’s leaders in batting average (11th-.352), slugging percentage (2nd-.678), on-base percentage (6th-.455), runs scored (8th-47), hits (6th-70), RBI (4th-55), doubles (10th-14), total bases (2nd-135), walks (6th-29), and hit-by-pitch (4th-11).
