Jason Holsinger was chosen today as the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The senior from Lapel, Indiana, averaged 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists in Evansville's victories last week over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and Ball State.
Holsinger, who has a 3.88 cumulative grade-point average in economics, hit 9-of-18 field goal attempts on the week, including 5-of-9 from three-point range, made 10 assists and committed just two turnovers. He had a season-best 18 points and a game-high five assists in the win over Ball State.
To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00, have completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution, and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
