EVANSVILLE, Ind.--University of Evansville senior men’s basketball player
Jason Holsinger (Lapel, Ind. / Lapel) has been named as one of 30 national candidates for the prestigious Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, which is presented annually to the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete of the Year in eight different sports.
Originally launched in 2001, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award program focuses on the “Four C’s” of classroom, character, community, and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the award honors the attributes of college basketball seniors who remain committed to their university and pursue the many rewards that a senior season and complete college education brings. Lowe’s, an official corporate partner of the NCAA, will award the winners with trophies during the respective men’s and women’s NCAA Final Four weekends.
Holsinger, who has a 3.88 cumulative grade-point average in economics, was recently named the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week for his efforts in the Aces’ wins over SIU-Edwardsville and Ball State. Holsinger is averaging 13.5 points per game and scored a career-high 31 points against Eastern Illinois earlier this month.
