The University of Evansville's homecourt win streak stands at five, and the chance for number six comes Wednesday night when the 5-1 Purple Aces host 2-5 Eastern Illinois. Tip-off at Roberts Stadium is 7:05 CST.

THE TOP 10 THINGS TO KNOW... VS. EASTERN ILLINOIS DEC. 10

1. This is a return game from last February’s BracketBusters contest at Charleston, Ill. that Evansville won 63-55. The victory ended a 10-game road losing streak for the Aces.

2. Jason Holsinger gave UE a big lift in last year’s game against Eastern Illinois. Sidelined the previous three games with a broken bone in his right hand, Holsinger came back to score a game-high 14 points in the win. Shy Ely added 10 points and Kavon Lacey 10.

3. Austin Peay and Ball State are the two common opponents for Evansville and Eastern Illinois. The Aces beat Austin Peay 70-62 and Ball State 73-63. Both games were at Roberts Stadium. EIU lost at Ball State 72-59 and lost at home to Austin Peay 81-73.

4. Wednesday’s game is the 19th in a series that Eastern Illinois leads 11-7. The two teams played every year from 1997-98 through 2004-05 (Eastern won five of those eight games) before playing again last February.

5. The 5-1 start is Evansville’s best since the 2004-05 team won six of its first seven. This is only the second time since 1999 that Evansville has won its first five home games. The other was 2004 (8-0 start at home).

6. Guards Jason Holsinger and Kavon Lacey found their shooting touch last week. In UE's two games, they combined to hit 18 of 29 shots and score 49 points. They also combined for 14 assists and only four turnovers. As a result, the Aces scored a season-high 89 points against SIU-Edwardsville and outscored Ball State 41-26 in the first half on 56 percent shooting.

7. Senior Shy Ely is fifth in the MVC in scoring (14.7) and seventh in rebounding (6.5) this week. He leads the Aces in both categories. Ely goes into the Eastern Illinois game with 924 career points.

8. Senior guard Jason Holsinger has 1,126 points for 28th place on UE’s career scoring list. He has 232 3-pointers in his career, the third most in school history. Marcus Wilson is the all-time UE leader with 250. Scott Haffner is second with 245.

9. The Aces are halfway through their longest homestand of the season– four games. After playing Eastern Illinois on Wednesday, UE hosts Western Kentucky on Saturday.

10. Saturday’s game is the first Take A Kid To The Game Day of 2008-09, and vouchers for free kids’ tickets have gone out to numerous local schools. The vouchers are also available by calling the UE ticket office at 488-ACES.
