DES MOINES, Iowa – More than half of the University of Evansville starting lineup was honored tonight with all-conference awards at the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Tournament Banquet.
Midfielder
Robby Lynch (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) was a first team selection, while midfielder
Richard Menjivar (North Hills, Cal./Monroe), forward
Tom Irvin (Collinsville, Ill./St. Louis U. High) and forward
Mike Luttrull (Indianapolis, Ind./Avon) were named to the second team. Goalkeeper
Phil Boerger (Jamestown, N.D./Jamestown) and defender
Justin Sass (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) were chosen as honorable mention all-MVC.
Lynch, a junior, is second in scoring with five goals and five assists for 15 points in addition to directing Evansville's attack from his central midfield position. Menjivar, a sophomore and also a key distributor of the ball from his midfield position, is third on the team with six assists. Irvin, a junior, is the team leader in scoring with five goals and eight assists for 18 points. Luttrull, also a junior, is fourth in scoring with five goals and one assist for 11 points. Tad Kreamalmeyer are tied for fourth in the MVC with five goals each. Boerger, a sophomore, has the third best goals-allowed average in the league at 1.07, and Sass, a sophomore, is the leader of an Evansville defense that ranks third in the league in goals-allowed average at 1.14. Sass also has three goals this season.
Drake University forward/midfielder Garrett Webb was chosen as MVC Player of the Year, Missouri State goalkeeper Alex Riggs was the Defensive Player of the Year, midfielder Dion Acoff of Creighton was chosen as Freshman of the Year, and league champion Missouri State was honored as Coaching Staff of the Year.

Mike Jacobs' Aces finished in a third place tie in the MVC at 11-7-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the league, and will take on Missouri State Friday at 3:30 in the first semifinal match of the State Farm MVC Tournament at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines. Drake plays Creighton in the other semifinal, and the two winners meet Sunday at 1:00 for the MVC championship and an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. Sunday's match will be televised live on Fox Sports Midwest.
