Lissa Fehlman has been selected as the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, Commissioner Doug Elgin announced today.
Fehlman, a senior infielder from Elgin, Ill., hit .583 with four doubles, homer, seven runs batted in and five runs scored, as the Purple Aces opened their season at the Georgia State First Pitch Classic.
The MVC Player of the Week, Fehlman, who has a 3.76 cumulative grade-point average in interdisciplinary studies, went 7-for-12 at the plate and recorded a 1.167 slugging percentage. In a game versus Georgia State, she hit a grand slam and scored three times. Against Virginia Tech, she had a two-run single and scored on a wild pitch in a 9-0 triumph versus the Hokies.
To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
