For the fourth consecutive year, and the sixth time in the last eight years, the University of Evansville women's soccer team has earned the Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The award is given to schools that compile team grade point averages of 3.0 or better in the most recent academic year.
"This is a reward for all of the hard work our players put in, and it's a testament to the quality of individuals we have in our program," said Coach
Krista McKendree.
"Our girls understand that they are here for school and soccer, so it's always nice to see them achieve success in the classroom as well as on the field. We stress to them that when they are done playing here, most will move on to jobs or graduate school rather than continuing to play soccer. UE is very accommodating with getting our athletes whatever help they need to succeed in the classroom, and I think that is apparent with how well our team does. At the end of the day, the responsibility still falls on our girls to work hard to be successful."
