HUTCHINSON, Kan. -- Gusty winds blew scores higher Monday at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club, where the University of Evansville stands fifth going into Tuesday's final 18 holes. The nine teams played 36 holes on Monday, and host Wichita State is the leader with a team score of 624.  Southern Illinois is one stroke back, followed by third place Illinois State (641), Drake (646) and the Purple Aces (648).

The 36-hole leader is Patrick Scheil of Southern Illinois, who shot 6-over-par 76 in each round to finish the long day at 12-over-par 152.  Sophomore Michael Sainz and freshman Tim Simmons share the team lead for UE at 159.  Sainz shot 82 and 77, and Simmons shot 80 and 79.
