EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville softball team has been recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for its academic achievements during the 2010-11 school year. The Aces ranked 96th among NCAA Division I softball programs with a team grade point average of 3.149.
As a second component to the NFCA’s academic award program, current senior
Maggie Little and junior
Halie Malone, along with last year's seniors Jen Stahlhut and Kelci Alsip, were named as NFCA Division I All-America Scholar Athletes for their achievements in the classroom last season. The award is given to any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2010-11 academic year.
"To be truly successful as a student-athlete at the Division I level is very difficult," said head coach
Mark Redburn. "I am very proud of not only the four who received the individual award but also of the team as a whole for achieving such academic success in the classroom."
