EVANSVILLE, Ind. – With the prestigious Coaches vs. Cancer Classic coming to Evansville and the Ford Center, the University of Evansville Athletics Department has announced promotions and charitable opportunities that will be present this weekend.
On Thursday, the first 1,000 fans through the door will receive a free Marty Simmons bobblehead. Made to commemorate Simmons’ playing days with the Aces, the collectible features the coach in his #50 jersey. This promotion is for the Thursday contest versus Buffalo at 7:05 p.m. only.
At each of Evansville’s three Coaches vs. Cancer Classic games, Deaconess will provide a designated charity with $1 for each ticket scanned at the Ford Center. Donations will be provided to the American Cancer Society for Thursday’s game vs. Buffalo, TOUCH Inc. for Friday’s game vs. Yale and Gilda’s Club Evansville for Saturday’s game vs. Western Illinois.
Fans can receive the discounted tickets by mentioning their support for one of the three organizations that will be receiving donations at the Carson Center ticket office through Thursday at 3 p.m. Select lower bowl tickets will be $8 for adults and $5 for youth (17 and under); upper bowl seating will be $5. Additional three-day ticket package information for the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic event is available at the Carson Center ticket office.
The final game of the weekend is set to pit Yale against Western Illinois on the campus of Oakland City University. The game will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday and will feature free admission. Fans with tickets to UE’s games throughout the weekend also have access to the other games being played at the Ford Center. On Friday, Western Illinois and Buffalo will square off while Saturday’s first men’s game features Yale and Buffalo. Both contests are set for 5 p.m. tips.
