ST. LOUIS – A pair of University of Evansville senior women’s tennis players were named to the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team at the weekend’s tournament.
Included on the fifteen-member team were UE seniors
Aleks Dzakula and
Jessica Raatz. In order to be considered for the team, the student-athlete must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.2, be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and have participated in 75% of the regular season matches.
Dzakula, an Elementary Education major, posted a 3.566 GPA at UE. She had an extraordinary senior season in both singles and doubles action. On her own, she went 15-6, including a 14-6 mark at No. 2 singles. She played alongside Raatz at No. 3 doubles, posting an 18-4 record, including a 9-match winning streak to wrap up the regular season.
Raatz earned a GPA of 3.699 while majoring in Exercise Science. She was 2-2 in singles play while going 18-4 in doubles with Dzakula.
