EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Set to open in less than two months, the Fifth Third Practice Facility has undergone several more upgrades over the last few weeks.
With the hardwood floors set to be installed shortly, the inside of the gyms is nearly complete. The scoreboard in each one has been installed and the goals are set in place while the painting is nearly complete. The new floors will take a few weeks to install. While work will progress on the floor, the focus will also be on putting the finishing touches on the offices and lounges.
The project, which is taking place to the west of the Carson Center, got underway near the end of April. The facility will house practice courts for the Purple Aces men's and women's basketball teams as well as new office facilities for both and a lounge.
Set to be 25,000 square feet, the facility will cost approximately $3.3 million dollars. All funds for the project will come from donations and roughly 80% of that amount has already been raised. The facility is set to be completed in October of 2012, just in time for use for the 2012-12 basketball season.
