DALLAS – The University of Evansville baseball team dropped both contests Saturday afternoon at Patriot Field, falling 14-1 in game one and 5-2 in game two to Dallas Baptist. Being swept for the first time this season, the Aces now own a 27-21 overall record, while DBU improves to 34-14.

With 17 hits, compared to UE’s four, Dallas Baptist scored in every inning except the first and third. Leading 1-0 heading into the fourth, the Patriots widened the gap with five runs, capped by a three-run homerun, and went on to score one run in the fifth, three in the sixth, and two in each the seventh and eighth frames.
Kyle Lloyd (3-3) took the loss, allowing seven runs, six earned, eighth hits, two walks, while striking out one in five innings of work. In relief, senior

Sam Johns hurled the final inning, allowing two runs on a hit, walk, and hit by pitch.
Andrew Elkins (4-1) earned the win, throwing eight innings, allowing one run, three hits, with three strikeouts.
In game two, Dallas Baptist took a 2-0 lead with a run in each the first and second innings, before Evansville broke on the board in the third with
Jake Mahon’s RBI single with two outs.
The Patriots answered in the bottom of the frame with a solo home run, representing DBU’s fifth long ball of the series.
However, the Aces rallied for a run in the fifth, cutting the deficit to one, 3-2. Mahon recorded his second RBI of the game, bringing home freshman
Kyle Schwinghamer who reached on a single and advanced on sophomore
Tim Bodine’s bunt single.
Unfortunately, that was as close as the Aces got, as the Patriots scored one run in both the seventh and eighth innings for the final 5-2 score.
