ST. LOUIS –
University of Evansville junior men's soccer player Nick Schroder was selected as one of two Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Week, in an announcement made by Commissioner Doug Elgin Wednesday afternoon.

Schroeder was honored for his performance in the Purple Aces' 5-2 win at Loyola Saturday night, as the junior forward scored the game-winning goal and later added an assist.  The three points marked the first of the season for Schroeder, who has been a key player off the bench for UE in its last four matches.  The Brighton, Mich., native is a pre-physical therapy major and maintains a 3.95 grade-point average.

To qualify for MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.

Schroder and the Aces will be on their home pitch at Arad McCutchan Stadium this weekend, when they host Missouri State for their annual "Kick It for the Cure" match Saturday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m.
