ST. LOUIS – University of Evansville men's soccer juniors
Kevin Schafer and
Dylan Terry were honored by the Missouri Valley Conference for their efforts both on the pitch and in the classroom, as the pair was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team in an announcement made by the league office Monday morning.

Schafer appeared in all 19 matches for Evansville, making 18 starts on the back line, helping the Aces' defense to a 1.58 goals against average and three shutouts. The Albuquerque, N.M., native recorded three points on three assists this season and attempted five shots, putting two on goal. Off the pitch, Schafer boasts a 3.86 grade-point average as a mechanical engineering major.

Terry was one of UE's top offensive threats this season, as he finished the year with 17 points on six goals and five assists to rank third on the team. The junior forward made 17 appearances on the year and attempted 45 shots with 22 of them reaching frame. As an exercise science (pre-physical therapy) major, Terry owns a 3.48 GPA.

The criteria for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team parallel the CoSIDA standards for the Academic All-America voting. Nominees must be starters or important reserves with at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and must have participated in at least 75 percent of the regular-season matches or the MVC Championship. Student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution and must have completed at least one full academic year at their institution.Â
