TOWSON, Md. – University of Evansville senior women's soccer player
Stephanie Thompson became just the second player in program history to earn Capital One Academic All-America honors, as she was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Third Team in a release by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Â
Thompson helped Evansville to a 9-6-4 record this season, after scoring seven points on three goals and an assist to earn a spot on the All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team for the second-straight season. The Evansville native, who owns a perfect 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) as an exercise science major, was also rewarded for her performance in the classroom by the Valley by earning a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team for the third-consecutive year.Â
Â
Thompson finished her career with 36 points on 14 goals and eight assists and now joins Kayla Lambert as the only other Academic All-America selection in UE women's soccer history. Lambert was a third-team selection in 2008.
