MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Diana Tkachenko and Chieko Yamada each earned victories for the University of Evansville women's tennis team as they wrapped up their berth in the 2016 ITA Ohio Valley Regional, which was hosted by Middle Tennessee State.
"We played at a much higher level today and we were able to earn a pair of singles wins. I was also very pleased with our effort in doubles even though we came up just short of a victory," Purple Aces head coach Jayson Wiseman said. "This weekend was a good measuring stick for to see where we are relative to the competition in the region, and allowed us to get some early looks at some of our sporting opponents."
Tkachenko won her consolation round, defeating Belmont's Lindsey Whitehead, 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (5). Yamada picked up a nice win over Audrey Berger of Ball State, 6-4, 6-4.
In consolation doubles, the duo fell by an 8-7 (6) final to Southeast Missouri State.
