ST. LOUIS, Mo. – After picking up a goal and a pair of assists last week, Zac Blaydes has become the second University of Evansville men's soccer player to earn a Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week award this season.
Blaydes, a sophomore out of Midway, Ky., was especially important in Saturday's league showdown at Missouri State. The midfielder put the Aces on the board with an equalizing strike from distance in the first half before picking out Ian McGrath for the match-winning goal inside the final five minutes of the game.
The win, which was the first for an opposing team at MSU since 2014, marked the third conference road victory of the season for the Aces, which is the most for a UE squad since 1997.
Earlier in the week against Lipscomb, a Blaydes corner resulted in Jesse Stafford Lacey's first career goal. On the year, Blaydes has nine assists, which is tied for the best total in the MVC.
Previously, Jared Robinson took home the weekly honors after leading UE to a win over Bradley.
The Aces will return to action on Saturday with the final regular season match of the year as SIUE will pay a visit to Arad McCutchan Stadium.
