Game Notes
The Aces (3-9-1) are coming off two of their most impressive victories of the season, beating MVC favorites Drake in the conference opener before picking up a 3-1 decision last Sunday at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
With four goals scored over the two contests, perhaps its most notable that leading scorer Bronwyn Boswell wasn't listed among the scorers as the Aces are starting to find contributions from all over the attack. Boswell leads the team with five goals on the season and ranks ninth in school history with 19 for her career. Montana Portenier found her way back on to the scoresheet against UNI, and she was joined there by JBess Ruby and Mikayla Harvey, who each pocketed their first career goals. The lone goal scored in the Drake match was from Colleen Dierkes.
Defensively, the Aces have impressed in recent weeks with the lone score over the two conference games coming from the penalty spot last week. Whitney Biggs has played all 180 minutes in goal over the two matches, saving eight shots. She's had plenty of help from her backline as well, which includes all-conference first-teamer Emily Richardson and Samantha Brown, who earned MVC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season.
Loyola, on the other hand, enters the contest aiming for a third consecutive victory as well. The Ramblers sit at 3-7-2 on the year, and the team will have revenge on its mind after falling to the Aces on penalties in the 2015 MVC Championship match.
Kickoff on Saturday is slated for 5 p.m.
NOTES: Bronwyn Boswell is one goal away from moving into a tie for eighth on UE's all-time scoring list … The Aces are 1-3-3 all-time against Loyola, and the series dates back to a 4-0 UE win in 1993, when both schools were a part of the Midwestern Collegiate Conference … Both matches in 2015 took place in Evansville and ended in a scoreless draw … UE fell 1-0 to the Ramblers on their last trip to Chicago in 2014 … The Aces are 25-27-9 all-time against schools that hail from the state of Illinois … UE is 1-3-1 all-time on Oct. 8.
