Dickey at doorstep of history as Aces get ready for Northwestern

11/26/2016 4:53:00 PM

EVANSVILLE – Sara Dickey enters Sunday looking to cement her name in the University of Evansville women's basketball history books as she heads into the showdown at Northwestern within reach of two school records.

UE at Northwestern (Sunday, 2 p.m.):  Live Stats  |  91.5 WUEV  |  BTN2Go ($9.95)  |  NU Website  |  Notes

Dickey, a senior out of Montezuma, Ind., has led the Aces in scoring in each of the past three seasons, and with 1,706 career points, she's just seven away from Shelly Brand-Adlard's school record total of 1,713, which was set from 1981-85. The 5-foot-11 guard is also just one three-pointer away from the school record in that category with 204 for her career.

This season, Dickey is averaging a team-best 16.3 points per game.

She's not the only UE senior that will be looking to move up on an Aces all-time list. Sasha Robinson, who is averaging just 0.7 points shy of a double-double for the season, is six rebounds away from moving into a tie for sixth on the all-time list.

However, it's Camary Williams who shined the most last time out as the senior guard was just two steals shy of a triple-double, helping the Aces wipe out a 23-point deficit before ultimately falling 76-74 to Southeast Missouri on a pair of late free throws last weekend. The Floridian set career highs with 21 points, 11 rebounds and eight steals.

Vincennes transfer Brooke Dossett also recorded double-digit points in the game against SEMO, and she's averaging 9.5 points so far this season.

UE, which is off to an 0-4 start, will be aiming to get back on track with the showdown with the Wildcats, but the road may be difficult. Northwestern is 4-1 this season and coming off its most impressive result of the year, knocking off No. 16 Florida 73-68 on Friday evening.

Tipoff on Sunday is slated for 2 p.m.

NOTES: Sunday will mark the first-ever meeting between Northwestern and Evansville … The game will feature two of the nation's active leading scorers, Sara Dickey with 1,706 points, who ranks ninth nationally, and Northwestern's Nia Coffey, who is eighth with 1,766 … The game will cement a fifth straight season that the Aces have taken on a Power-5 opponent … UE has played six such opponents since 2012, including three from the Big Ten, posting an 0-6 record … The Aces are 90-103 all-time against schools from the state of Illinois.
