Women’s Basketball returns to the court Sunday at No. 8 Louisville

12/17/2016 3:30:00 PM

EVANSVILLE – After a week layoff, the University of Evansville women's basketball team will face its toughest test of the season on Sunday as the Purple Aces will pay a visit to eighth-ranked Louisville at the KFC YUM! Center.

UE at Louisville (Sunday, 1 p.m.):  Live Stats  |  ESPN3  |  91.5 WUEV  |  UL Website  |  Game Notes

The Aces (4-5), who are riding their first four-game winning streak in two seasons, will have their work certainly have their work cut out for them in the contest with a Louisville team (10-2) that has won three consecutive games by a combined 88 points. Thanks in large part to a rejuvenated offense over the past few weeks, Evansville will more than likely look to keep pace offensively with the hosts. The Aces have averaged just under 80 points per game over the past six games, highlighted by a 108-point outburst against Oakland City, which marked the highest-scoring game for the Aces in 26 years.

While Sara Dickey, UE's all-time leading scorer with 1,802 career points, once again leads the Aces in the category this season, the Aces have been led in recent weeks by Camary Williams' uncanny ability to fill up the stat sheet. The senior guard out of Ft. Myers, Fla., has flirted with a triple-double on multiple occasions this season, and she enters the weekend averaging 14.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and an NCAA-best five steals per contest. She's hit double-figures in points in all but two games, and despite her 5-foot-5 frame, she boasts of three games with double-digit rebounds.

Brooke Dossett, a former junior college All-American in her first season with UE, is third on the team with 12.1 points per game. Kerri Gasper chips in 7.9, and Sasha Robinson, who ranks among UE's all-time rebounding leaders, adds in 7.3 points to go along with a team-best 8.8 rebounds.

Sunday's contest will mark the penultimate nonconference game of the season for the Aces, who will close out the slate on Wednesday against Alabama A&M at the Ford Center. It will also serve as the first time that UE has played a ranked opponent since a 73-51 loss to Louisville on Dec. 29, 2014.

Tipoff on Sunday is slated for 1 p.m. Central time.

NOTES: Sara Dickey's career point total of 1,802 ranks 16th in Missouri Valley Conference history. She's 41 away from moving into the top 15 … She also ranks 23rd all-time in three-point makes with 217, which is three shy of a tie for 21st … Sasha Robinson's rebound total of 686 ranks sixth in the school record books. She's 59 away from moving into the top five … UE is 3-11 all-time against Louisville, including an 0-8 mark away from home … The last UE win in the series was a 60-58 decision at Roberts Stadium on Nov. 24, 2002 … UE is 29-44 all-time vs. opponents from the state of Kentucky.
