Game Notes
The Aces (1-5) will be aiming to pick up consecutive wins for the first time since 2015, and the team is coming off one of its more impressive performances of the year, leading for the final 28 minutes against the Crusaders in Valparaiso. It was the first road victory for the Aces since last November, and a win on Sunday would mark the first time the Aces have been successful in back-to-back road games since beating Illinois State and Southern Illinois in January 2015.
If UE is to be successful, Sara Dickey is more than likely to play a key role. The UE senior and all-time leading scorer has poured in 59 points over the past three games, upping her season average to 17.5 points per game. She's also played more than 35 minutes in all but one game this season, and this past Wednesday, she led all scorers with 21 points to go along with six rebounds and three assists.
However, while Dickey's scoring has been a huge part of the Aces offense, a major reason for the win was three other players joining her in the double-digit scoring column. Camary Williams was once again a major factor with 14 points and seven steals, while Kerri Gasper and Brooke Dossett combined for another 25 points.
Meanwhile, Sasha Robinson has been an important piece on both ends of the floor, and she's pulled down 10 or more rebounds in four of the team's six games.
Murray State, on the other hand, will be looking to avoid a third consecutive loss after falling on the road to Ohio and East Tennessee State over the past week. In the showdown with ETSU, the Racers were held to 36.2% shooting from the field, including an anemic 5-for-28 showing from beyond the arc.
Tipoff on Sunday is set for 2 p.m. from the CFSB Center.
NOTES: Sara Dickey's career point total of 1,746 ranks 20
th in MVC history, and with 23 more points, she'd move into a tie for 19
th with former Missouri State star Jeanette Tendai (1983-86) … Dickey also ranks 24
th in Valley history with 210 three pointers. She's four off the mark of Indiana State's Lisa Verhoff for 23
rd … Sasha Robinson is 81 rebounds off the pace of Samantha Heck (2009-13) for the fifth-best rebounding total in school history … The Aces are 13-20 against Murray State all-time … The two sides have met at least once in every season since 2008-09 … UE is 4-5 over that stretch … Last season, UE dropped the contest 73-54 to Murray at The Ford Center … UE won on its last trip to Murray, picking up a 93-83 victory … Dickey set the school scoring record in the contest, racking up 37 points … Robinson added 17 to go along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
