EVANSVILLE — After helping the University of Evansville women's basketball team to its first two wins of the season last week, senior guard Camary Williams earned national recognition for her efforts on Monday as she was named one of three national players of the week by College Sports Madness.

Williams, a native of Ft. Myers, Fla., was exceptional on both ends of the floor for the Purple Aces, beginning Wednesday as she sank eight free throws and helped the team hold off a late Valparaiso surge for a 70-65 victory. Williams finished the day with 14 points, five rebounds and seven steals. She was even better Sunday as UE paid a visit to Murray State, flirting with a triple-double for the second time this season on the way to finishing with a career-high 25 points, 11 boards and eight steals.
The two wins saw the Aces improve to 2-5 on the season, and another win over Oakland City on Tuesday would give the Aces their first three-game winning streak since January of 2015.
The other national honorees this week were Duke's Rebecca Greenwell and Oral Roberts' Maria Martinez.
While Williams has starred in recent games for the Aces, she's certainly had some help in the form of UE's all-time leading scorer in Sara Dickey. A senior out of Montezuma, Ind., Dickey picked up another 17 points on Sunday to help the Aces to victory, and she's hit double-digits in the points column in all but one game this season, averaging 17.4 per contest. Brooke Dossett, who also racked up 17 to go along with a career-best five assists on Sunday, has scored 10-or-more points in three of the last four games to take her average up to 11.
Meanwhile, the Aces frontcourt has been helmed by senior Sasha Robinson, who's pulled down double-digit rebounds in all but three games this season. She, along with her back-up in Ashley Hawkins, were effective in Sunday's victory, combining to shoot 7-for-9 from the field for 14 points while recording 11 rebounds.
The showdown with the Oaks, which is set for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, will see the Aces welcome in thousands of children from local schools in an attempt to break UE's single-game attendance record. The last time the Aces took on OCU, which was also an Education Day game in 2014, over 2,000 looked on as the Aces cruised to an 81-40 victory at the Ford Center.
NOTES: Sara Dickey's career point total of 1,763 ranks 20th in MVC history, and with seven more points, she'd move into a tie for 19th with former Missouri State star Jeanette Tendai (1983-86) … Dickey also ranks 24th in Valley history with 212 three pointers. She's two off the mark of Indiana State's Lisa Verhoff for 23rd … Sasha Robinson is 77 rebounds off the pace of Samantha Heck (2009-13) for the fifth-best rebounding total in school history … The Aces are 18-5 all-time against Oakland City … The meeting in 2014 was the first regular season game between the two teams since the 1982-83 season … Dickey led the Aces in that game, pouring in 22 points while Robinson ended the game with 14 points and 18 rebounds … UE has not lost to the Lady Oaks since a 72-71 setback during the 1981-82 season … Overall, UE is 126-162 all-time against Indiana schools.
