CHARLESTON, Ill. – The University of Evansville women's soccer team had the better run of play on Sunday, but the Purple Aces proved unable to break through as the team battled to a scoreless draw in an exhibition match at Eastern Illinois.
Evansville 0, Eastern Illinois 0 -- Box Score
The Aces, who are coming off a Missouri Valley Tournament championship last season, finish the preseason with a 1-0-1 record after picking up a win against Murray State last week. The regular season will begin Friday as UE will hit the road to take on Xavier on Aug. 19 before hitting the road for Miami two days later.
For the second straight game, the Aces out-shot their opponent, taking 14 shots while holding EIU to just three. UE also had all six corners in the match.
Emily Richardson had two of the best chances in the match, hitting the woodwork twice. Bronwyn Boswell very nearly supplied the late winner for the Aces, but the attempt was saved by Panther goalkeeper Sara Teteak.
Julie Rabe earned the nod in goal for UE and recorded a clean sheet, but she didn't have much work to do as EIU failed to put a shot on target.
