EVANSVILLE – After a tough slate of matches in non-conference play, the University of Evansville women's soccer team will be hoping to pick up steam with the start of Missouri Valley Conference play on Sunday at Drake.

The Aces (1-9-1) will be looking to put a halt to the team's current nine-match winless streak, but the task will be difficult as the preseason MVC favorite Bulldogs look to be living up to those plaudits. Drake is 8-1-1 on the year.
UE, meanwhile, will be hoping to repeat its run of form from the tail end of last year. The Aces overcame a difficult start to the season only to build momentum as the season continued, ultimately riding the wave of success to a MVC tournament title and berth into the NCAA Tournament. If UE is to hit that form, however, it will need to start scoring goals again. Bronwyn Boswell, who kicked off the season with five goals in the first seven matches, has been held scoreless over the last four matches.
Boswell is one of just three players to find the back of the net this season for UE. Both Montana Portenier and Molly Lear have logged a goal apiece.
Defensively, the Aces will be looking to rebound from a 4-0 loss to Butler a week ago. UE is in search of its first clean sheet since a scoreless draw with Southeast Missouri on Sept. 4. Goalkeeper Whitney Biggs, who was the MVP of last season's MVC Championship, has played every minute in net for UE, posting two shutouts in the process.

NOTES: UE is 8-10-0 all-time against Drake and 20-13-2 against schools from the state of Ohio … Last season, UE dropped a 2-1 decision to the Bulldogs in Evansville … The Aces also opened up Valley play at Drake in 2014, winning 1-0 … The two sides met again in the tournament later that year, with UE pulling out a 2-0 victory … UE is 11-6-3 all-time in MVC openers … UE is 3-1-0 in openers against Drake. The two sides have played in five such contests since 2009.
