Women’s Basketball set for We Back Pat game on Sunday

1/20/2017 10:55:00 AM

EVANSVILLE – The University of Evansville women's basketball team will take its turn in the battle against Alzheimer's on Sunday as the Purple Aces are set to partner with the Pat Summitt Foundation for a We Back Pat game against Southern Illinois at the Ford Center.

High schools and colleges all over the country have organized We Back Pat games to help raise awareness for the fight against Alzheimer's disease, an ailment that claimed the life of former University of Tennessee legend Pat Summitt, who finished her career as the winningest coach in women's basketball history.

The first 100 fans in attendance will receive purple T-shirts, and donations will be accepted for the Pat Summitt Foundation throughout the game. The foundation, which is part of the East Tennessee Foundation, is a public, non-profit community organization founded by Summitt in 2011 with a focus on combating Alzheimer's. The charity partnered with the University of Tennessee Medical Center to establish the Pat Summitt Alzheimer's Clinic in Knoxville, which officially opened its doors earlier this week.

Tipoff on Sunday is slated for 1 p.m.
