Official MAC Championship

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – For the next four days, the Purple Aces men's swimming and diving team will be participating in the Mid-America Conference Championship in Carbondale, Ill.

Last year, the University of Evansville finished in seventh place. Several performances highlighted last year's championships. Ethan O'Rourke excelled in the 200 IM, earning 17^th place with a 1:52.10. Additionally in the event were Troy Burger, Reid Mobley, Brendan Ninneman, Will Glasscock, and Derek Stauder; every swimmer in the 200 IM improved their season best times by over a second. 
 
Dan O'Brien competed in the finals of the 100 Butterfly. Seeded 12^th place, he took 11^th, clocking in at 49.30. Troy Burger excelled in the 100 Breaststroke. He was seeded 14^th after prelims and took it a few steps further to end in 11^th with a final time of 56.44. O'Rourke was next in the 100 Backstroke, earning 13^th place with a 50.44.
 
 Burger then placed 16^th in the 200 Breaststroke. His preliminary seed was 2:06.71; his final time clocked in at 2:04.59.
 
In the 1650 Freestyle, Freshman Jared Sutphin led the Aces in 17^th place with a time of 16:30.51. He was closely followed by 18^th place Junior Andrew Cotton with 16:32.49. Freshman David Stoddard finished the mile for the Aces in 22^nd with 17:08.86.
 
The 800 Freestyle Relay of Ethan O'Rourke, Jared Sutphin, Daniel O'Brien, and Cameron Wickes earned seventh place at 6:55.21. The seven-minute mark had not been broken since before 2003.
 
Junior Cory Barnes was placed 16^th in the 3-Meter with his score of 255.40. Barnes took 17^th place with his score of 221.20 in the 1-Meter. Freshmen Miguel Marcano and Luke Hoffman took 19^th and 20^th places respectively.
