EVANSVILLE – After a season that saw the University of Evansville women's soccer team advance to the Missouri Valley Conference championship match for the third consecutive season, head coach Krista McKendree has already began preparations for her team for 2017, which will begin this spring with a slate of contests.
The campaign will get started on Feb. 26 as the Aces will take on Bellarmine at noon, and it will continue in Kentucky a month later with a 7-a-side tournament at Western Kentucky on March 25.
Bellarmine posted an 11-3-4 record in the fall, and the Hilltoppers were 12-6-1.
The first home game of the season is slated for April 8, and it will be a rematch of sorts as the Aces will take on Austin Peay, an opponent from a season ago, at 1 p.m. at Arad McCutchan Stadium. The Govs may offer one of the stiffest tests of the spring as the team is coming off a 10-win campaign in 2016 that culminated with their first Ohio Valley Conference tournament berth in three years.
The season will conclude five days later with the annual showdown against crosstown rival Southern Indiana. The Screaming Eagles posted a 9-9-1 mark last season.
Admission to UE spring matches will be free.
