EVANSVILLE — With wins in each of the past three game, the University of Evansville women's basketball team will look to keep it rolling as the team closes out the regular season with trips to Loyola and Indiana State.
UE at Loyola (Thursday, 7 p.m.): Live Stats | The Valley on ESPN3 | LUC Website
UE at Illinois State (Saturday, 1 p.m.): Live Stats | The Valley on ESPN3 | ISU Website
UE, which enters the weekend with an 11-16 record and a 6-10 Missouri Valley Conference record, will be looking to secure its seeding for Hoops in the Heartland next week. Indiana State and Bradley each have six wins as well. Bradley owns the tiebreaker over Evansville, but the Aces will more than likely hold the tiebreak advantage over Indiana State, regardless of what happens in Saturday's contest between the Aces and Sycamores.
Led by two-time reigning Valley Player of the Week Sara Dickey, the Aces have impressed over the course of the current three-game streak, which includes wire-to-wire decisions over both Southern Illinois and Illinois State. Dickey has been especially impressive in the run, scoring 28 against the Salukis before averaging 17 in the narrow victories over both ISU and Bradley.
For the season, Dickey, who is UE's all-time leading scorer with 2,041 career points, is averaging 14.8 per game, which is the fifth-best mark in the Valley. Camary Williams, who recorded her team-best eighth double-double against the Redbirds, is sixth in the league at 14.5 points per game. Her eight rebounds per game rank third in the MVC, and she's the second-best thief in the country at over four steals per game.
UE's success this season has largely depended on finding third and fourth scorers after the highly-touted tandem, and that was especially apparent this weekend as UE boasted of five double-figure scorers against Bradley and four against ISU. For the season, Brooke Dossett averages nine points a game, and Gasper kicks in another 7.9. Sasha Robinson adds 6.1 to go along with 7.4 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Loyola will be looking to gain some end-of-season momentum after winning just two of the team's 27 games. The Ramblers have locked up the 10th seed at the conference tournament with a 1-15 mark. The Ramblers have lost 13 consecutive games.
The Sycamores, on the other hand, are 12-15 on the season and riding a four-game losing streak as well. The team is tied with UE with a 6-10 league mark.
Tipoff on Friday is slated for 7 p.m.
