EVANSVILLE — Revenge will be in mind for the University of Evansville baseball team this week as the Purple Aces will set out for Bloomington to take on Indiana on Tuesday before returning home to face SIUE Wednesday at Charles H. Braun Stadium.

UE (8-15) will be coming off one of its most lopsided victories of the season, a 10-5 decision over Lipscomb Sunday, and the team will be hoping that it can replicate the success it enjoyed in Bloomington a season ago. The Aces put together one of their most comprehensive efforts in the history of the series, racing out to a 15-0 lead on the Hoosiers before the game was rained out in the bottom of the fifth, just three outs from the contest being counted as an official game.

After inclement weather canceled out the home leg of this season's series, Tuesday's meeting represents the first between the two teams since that 15-0 game. The Aces also lost the earlier meeting with the Hoosiers last season as a Scotty Bradley RBI single brought home the winning run in the 10th inning for a 7-6 IU victory.

Preseason All-American Trey Hair led the way for the Aces in both contests, going 4-for-5 in Evansville leg and picking up a pair of hits, including a home run, in the abandoned contest in Bloomington. The senior second baseman is hitting .295 on the year with team-leading totals in runs (15), RBI (17), doubles (12) and home runs (3).

Overall, three UE hitters own averages better than .300, with Kenton Crews leading the way at .366. Craig Shepherd and Korbin Williams are also the .300 with .326 and .317 marks, respectively.

Alex Weigand will get the start on the mound in the contest, and it will mark his fourth of the season. The sophomore southpaw is 1-2 on the year, an he's surrendered 16 runs (13 earned) over 11.2 inning of work. Last season, the Bourbonnais, Ill., native was 3-4 with a 5.16 ERA over 68 innings.

Indiana (13-8-1) enters the contest on the heels of four consecutive victories and nine wins in the last 10 games.

On Wednesday, the Aces will put an end to a five-game road swing with a return to take on SIUE at The Braun. UE fell victim to a late rally in Edwardsville last week as the Cougars plated four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to win 5-2.

First pitch in Bloomington is set for 5 p.m. Central, and Wednesday's game at Braun Stadium is set for a 6 p.m. start.
