EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Another non-conference doubleheader is on tap for the University of Evansville softball team welcomes UT Martin to Cooper Stadium on Tuesday with game one set for 3 p.m.
For the second time this season, the Purple Aces earned a conference series sweep, taking all three on the road against Drake. Evansville batted .402 in the series while slugging .691 and reaching base 47.3% of the time. Two UE players were recognized by the MVC for their stellar efforts as Morgan Lambert was named the MVC Player of the Week while Brittany Hay garnered Newcomer of the Week accolades. In the series at Drake, Hay batted .750 with nine hits in 12 at-bats while scoring nine times; Lambert hit .545 in Des Moines.

On Sunday, Chandra Parr officially set the UE program home run record. Her 31st career home run came in the fourth inning at Drake and was also the game winner. Parr recorded the tying homer against Austin Peay on Wednesday before moving ahead of Krista Price on Sunday.
A nice streak for senior Morgan Lambert continued as she hit .545 with six hits in 11 at-bats at Drake while pushing her season average to .300. Lambert has notched at least one hit in 11 out of the last 12 games. An amazing week of play saw her bat .500, going 9-18 with two home runs, 9 RBI and four runs scored versus Drake and Austin Peay. She reached base 52.6% of the time while slugging .944.
Newcomer of the Week Brittany Hay had one of the best MVC series in recent memory for the Aces. Over the weekend in Des Moines, Hay went 9-12 from the plate (.750) while scoring an unbelievable nine runs. Her season tally of 31 runs scored is now tied for second in the Valley and her conference batting average now stands at .500.
UT Martin comes to town with a 28-12 mark and are 7-3 in Ohio Valley Conference play. Carly Gonzalez has batted .388 for the Skyhawks while seven players check in at .300 or above. Rachel Williams paces UTM with 34 RBI. Sara Hooten is their leader in the circle, notching a 2.72 ERA, which is just ahead of Brooke Kennedy's tally of 2.77. Kennedy also paces UTM with 14 victories on the season.
