CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Another close match ensued on Sunday morning as the University of Evansville women's tennis team defeated UNI by a 4-3 margin Sunday
 
"We were very fortunate to escape with a victory today. UNI came out with great passion and intensity, they were determined to defend their home court on Senior Day and had us very much on the ropes early," Purple Aces head coach Jayson Wiseman said.  "We did a great job of bouncing back after losing the doubles point and digging some early holes at the top of the lineup. Fortunately we were able to regroup and find a way to get the job done."
 
"I'm very proud of our resiliency today, we had the chance to finish the year tied for 2nd in the MVC in our own hands and we were determined not to let it get away."
 
UNI started the day by taking the doubles points, but the Aces rallied to take four singles matches to finish off the win.  Chieko Yamada defeated Jieke Stroobant in flight one, 6-4, 6-1.  Diana Tkachenko got the job done at #2 singles, winning in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
 
Daria Pentsova picked up another win, topping Sydney Wolfe in the fourth flight, 6-3, 6-2.  Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga was the fourth to pick up a win, beating Savanna Hunt at #6, 6-0, 6-1.
 
Evansville awaits its opponents in the Missouri Valley Conference Team Championships, which take place in Normal, Ill. from April 28-30.
