For the third consecutive season, the University of Evansville baseball team will play in the opening game of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament as play will begin on Wednesday at Hammons Field in Springfield, Mo.

The Aces, who finished the regular season with a 17-37 overall record and a 8-12 mark in Valley play, earned the league's No. 6 seed and will square off against third-seeded Indiana State at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning. UE last won the championship event back in 2006, and the team will once again be hunting that elusive trophy as well as the automatic bid into the NCAA tournament that comes along with it.
Depending on UE's result against the Sycamores, the team will then face either second-seeded Dallas Baptist (36-19, 15-6 MVC) or seventh-seeded Bradley (20-29, 6-14 MVC). Bradley and DBU will play in Wednesday's second game, which is set for a 12:30 p.m. start. One of the four teams will ultimately emerge from that half of the bracket to take on the winner of the other half for the conference crown.
Top-seeded Missouri State (37-15, 18-1) leads that other half, and they will square off in Wednesday's finale against Illinois State (13-38, 2-18 MVC). No. 4 Southern Illinois (27-28, 10-10 MVC) and No. 5 Wichita State (27-27, 10-11 MVC) will play in the other game.
Every game of the MVC tournament will be broadcast live on The Valley on ESPN3, and each UE game will also be available through 91.5 WUEV.
