EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Renovations to the Meeks Family Fieldhouse are officially under way! An exciting project that will see a full transformation of the facility that hosts the Purple Aces volleyball and women's basketball teams will take place over the summer.

August 16, 2017 - One of the most highly-anticipated days in the Meeks Family Fieldhouse project took place on Wednesday as the Taraflex floor was installed. It will be used by the Purple Aces volleyball squad and is the same floor used in the 2016 Summer Olympics as well as by many of the top NCAA volleyball programs in the nation. It gives a whole new look and feel to the fieldhouse. New women's basketball championship banners were also put in with a close-up shot below.

August 14, 2017 - Work just keeps on moving along inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse. Today, the new wall signage was installed and it looks spectacular. The signage highlights the sports of volleyball and women's basketball and will be on both sides of the floor. New signage has also been installed on the side of the bleachers, just one of the small details that take this facility to the next level.

August 11, 2017 - It was a busy week behind the scenes at Meeks Family Fieldhouse. The side table boards were up and running for the first time this week as UE staff underwent training with Daktronics on the new software. The new Lois D. Patton Court also got broken in this week as the Aces volleyball team started its preseason practice schedule. Next week will feature yet another game-changer as the new volleyball floor is set to be installed. Check back in next week for updates on the installation and finished floor.

July 28, 2017 - Another large step in the renovation of Meeks Family Fieldhouse took place on Friday as the videoboard was turned on and was operating for the first time. It definitely is a nice addition to the facility and will be a focal point that is sure to increase the fan experience inside the facility!

July 27, 2017 - Today, we went inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse for our first close-up look at Lois D. Patton Court. The paint and sealer have dried and we got our first look at just how good the project has come out! Even more excitement is on the horizon as the electronics will be set up as well as the Teraflex volleyball floor will be installed in the coming weeks! Stay tuned as the project enters the homestretch.

July 21, 2017 - The painting of Lois D. Patton Court in Meeks Family Fieldhouse is complete and the final coat of sealant is currently drying. Soon preparations for the start of the 2017 Fall sports season will take place as the Aces' women's volleyball home-opener against Indiana on August 8 is only 49 days away!

July 19, 2017 - The painting of the court in Meeks Family Fieldhouse is approaching completion. All coats of paint have been laid down and tape is being removed to reveal the court design. The final step of the court painting process is a final coat of sealant that is expected to be applied Thursday. Continue to check this blog for further progress and updates in the coming days!

July 17, 2017 - The weekend proved to be an eventful one in the Meeks Family Fieldhouse. The floor of the fieldhouse received its first coat of sealing and painting of the baselines and sidelines and lanes of the basketball surface have received their first coat of paint. Next, the lines for the basketball surface will be painted, as well as the lines for the volleyball surface. Continue to check this blog for further progress and updates in the coming days!

July 13, 2017 - Over the course of just three short days, the floor inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse has undergone a full transformation. Crews have been hard at work stripping the old floor design down to the bare wood. The floor surface looks brand new! Next up will be the sealing and painting of the new floor design.

July 10, 2017 - Last week, new LED lights were installed at Meeks Family Fieldhouse. What a difference! It is much brighter inside and will make for an enhanced experience for fans and student-athletes.
On July 10, work began on stripping the current floor. The bleachers have been covered to protect them from the dust. The floor will be painted and sealed in the coming weeks.

June 30, 2017 - The busy summer inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse has continued this week. The scoreboards are all set and installed. Late in the week, work started on replacing the lighting in the facility. Workers have been busy replacing the old lights in the fieldhouse.

June 26, 2017 - Installation work continues inside the Meeks Family Fieldhouse. The main scoreboard has been hung up on the north side of the fieldhouse and features a large sight line for fans to view the score and stats. Work is also continuing on the main press table, which has been assembled and moved close to its permanent location.

June 23, 2017 - The videoboard has been installed on the south side of Meeks Family Fieldhouse. It is huge! The scoreboards are being put on the walls as all of the installation work will be completed before the work on the floor begins.

June 22, 2017 - Another delivery came in today as the electronic scoring tables have arrived at Meeks Family Fieldhouse. Installation of these, along with the scoreboards, will begin soon.

June 21, 2017 - The bleachers on the west side of the gym are in place and the chairbacks are now being installed. It is great to see so much purple in the Meeks Family Fieldhouse! The new scoreboards and video boards have also arrived. They are being brought into the facility today and will be installed in the coming days. Check back to see how they look.

June 15, 2017 - Construction of the new bleachers is moving along at a rapid pace this week at the Meeks Family Fieldhouse.
June 12, 2017 - The new bleachers for the west side of the Carson Center have been delivered and were unpacked on Monday. Installation of them will take place throughout the week.
June 8, 2017 - Today, the old scoreboards on both sides were removed in preparations for the new videoboard. The bleachers on the west side of the gym will also be installed in the coming days.
June 4, 2017 - Brand new basketball goals have been installed on both sides of the floor and are attached to the ceiling.
May 30, 2017 - The first day of renovations has begun. The basketball goals are being removed on the first day of work at the facility.
