Kyle Freeland captured his 11th win of the season on July 29, pitching five innings, allowing three earned runs on nine hits, while striking-out four in a 10-6 Rockies' victory over the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park. He returned from the disabled list on August 15 against the Atlanta Braves, earning a no decision. He went 6.0 innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He also fanned five batters. Freeland was a hard-luck loser on August 20 versus the Milwaukee Brewers. He gave up just two earned runs in 5 2/3 innings in an 11-8 Rockies loss. He did strike out seven batters, his highest tally since fanning nine on July 9 in his 1-hit performance against the Chicago White Sox. Freeland has pitched in relief over the last week as the Rockies clinched a Wild Card spot.
