OXFORD, Ohio – The Mid America Conference Swimming and Diving Championship kicked off tonight with a pair of relays.
"Great start to the meet," said head coach Rickey Perkins. "We seemed relaxed and had confidence. We had some very fast relay splits. We were faster than last year at this championship in both relays. I am really looking forward tomorrow's session."
The 200 Medley Relay came first. Freshmen Credence Pattinson and Ryan Wood, senior Prescott Marcy, and junior Matt Duke took to the pool to clock in a 1:31.22 for 5
th place, nearly 2 seconds ahead of Ball State's relay.
After a short break, the Aces returned for the 800 Freestyle Relay. Sophomore Brandt Hudson, Pattinson, junior Jared Sutphin and freshman Austin Smith recorded yet another 5
th place finish with a final time of 6:43.87.
Tomorrow's preliminary session will begin at 10:30 Eastern Time tomorrow morning. Events will include the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, and 50 freestyle.
