Aces open outdoor season Saturday at Butler

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  - Following a record-setting indoor campaign, the University of Evansville's men's and women's track and field teams open the outdoor season at the Stan Lyons Invitational on Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind.

Evansville closed the indoor season with a set of record-breaking performances at the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. In the distance medley relay, Evansville's women utilized a fast field to shatter the program record by nearly 40 seconds as junior Sienna Crews, senior Tess Hupe, and freshmen Lauren Meyer and Anna Lowry captured a 10th-place finish in a time of 13:31.79. In prelimary events, Evansville set program records in the women's 400 meter dash, the women's 60-meter hurdles, and the men's 200-meter dash all coming on the first day. The Aces' women's team recorded the first points in program history as the 4x400 meter relay team finished eighth among a nine-team field.
 
Stan Lyons Invitational (Saturday): Meet Info | Meet Schedule


The invitational opens on Saturday with field events beginning with the men's and women's javelin and men's and women's shot put at 11 a.m. Following the javelin and shot put competitions, field events continue to be the feature with men's and women's pole vault and men's and women's long jump events beginning at Noon. Action on the track gets underway at 1 p.m. with the women's 4x100 meter relay followed by the men's 4x100 meter relay. Competition concludes on Saturday evening with the women's and men's 4x400 meter relays at 5:45 and 5:55, respectively.

Joining the Aces at the Stan Lyons Invitational are the host team Butler, Ball State, Dayton, Indiana, IUPUI (women), Loyola, Marian, Northern Kentucky, Taylor, Wright State, and Xavier. The meet will be held at Davey Track & Field, located on Butler University's campus just a short distance from Hinkle Fieldhouse.
