SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Evansville women's golf team opened the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate with a team score of 330 as the Purple Aces are eighth after the first round at Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tenn.
Evansville opened the tournament with a 330 putting UE eighth after the opening day. Leading the intercollegiate is Jacksonville State who carded a 299 as a team as the Gamecocks grabbed a seven-stroke advantage over second-place Marshall after the first round.
Leading the Purple Aces after the opening round was Madison Chaney who recorded a 78 on the first day placing Chaney in a tie for 17th. Just behind Chaney in a tie for 28th was Sophia Rohleder as the freshman carded an 81 on the opening day of the intercollegiate.
Sitting in 48th, Giulia Mallman tallied a first-round 85, while Mink Gill was 50th after the opening day as Gill recorded an 87 in the first round. Lexie Sollman continued the trend of Aces within a couple of strokes of one another as Sollman carded an 89 in the opening round, placing the sophomore in 52nd after the first day.
The Aces compete in the second day of the intercollegiate as Monday features the second of three rounds of the tournament at Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tenn.
