Aces Baseball looking to ride momentum into this weekend's match-up with Dallas Baptist

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - On the heels of Wednesday night's 9-1 battering of Belmont, the University of Evansville baseball team rides into the Lone Star State a little taller in the saddle as they take on Missouri Valley Conference rival Dallas Baptist this weekend.

The Purple Aces matched their season high in runs scored, as the drove in nine runs in a midweek non-conference victory over the Bruins. Now, they'll look to stay hot against one of the top teams in the MVC, in the Patriots.

The Purple Aces (8-30, 1-11) will open the series with freshman right-hander Austin Ruesch, who looked sharp in making his first collegiate start, going 4 1/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits, while striking out three while earning the tough-luck loss in a 2-0 loss to Southern Illinois last Friday. DBU (28-15, 9-3) will counter with RHP Trevor Conn.

On Saturday, in a game that will be televised on ESPNU at 8 p.m. (CT), the Aces send out junior left hander Alex Weigand. In his last start, Weigand went 3 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on five hits, while striking out three against Southern Illinois last Saturday. Dallas Baptist will start RHP MD Johnson.

Purple Aces Head Coach Wes Carroll has yet to name a starter for Sunday's finale. The Patriots wil go with RHP Luke Eldred.
