University of Evansville incoming freshman women’s basketball player Khristian Hart (Evansville, Ind./Harrison) has been named one of the city of Evansville’s top female athletes, as she recently was named the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference’s Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year. 

Hart garnered the conference’s top honor on the women’s side after an outstanding senior year on both the volleyball and basketball courts.  In volleyball, Hart earned all-city honors as a senior for the Harrison High School Warriors.  On the basketball court, though, few in the city or region could match her ability.  Hart garnered Indiana All-Star status after ranking fifth in the state in scoring with an average of 23.9 points per game.  She was a first team all-state selection and a nominee for the McDonald’s High School All-America game.

All eight SIAC schools had nominations for the award in the various sports offered.  Hart was selected though as the Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year and honored recently in the SIAC’s inaugural Night of Champions.

“It’s more than just an athletic award,” Hart told the Evansville Courier & Press.  “It’s great to be a role model in Evansville and the SIAC.  It’s just a great honor.”

Hart is part of a talented incoming class this year for head coach Misty Murphy’s Purple Aces, as the class features a consensus junior college All-America selection (Staci Gillum) and four true freshmen who all earned state all-star honors this past year as a high school senior (Hart - Indiana, Miranda Liles - Alabama, Katie Ellerson - Wisconsin, Hannah Weedman - Illinois).  Evansville will also add the services of University of Miami transfer Briyana Blair to the roster this season, after she sat out last season due to NCAA transfer rules.
