Oties Epps has announced the hiring of
FahKara Malone as the Purple Aces' assistant coach. Malone served as UE's director of basketball operations the last two seasons.
"I am extremely excited to announce the promotion of FahKara Malone to assistant coach," Epps said. "She has a strong reputation in the state from her playing days and more importantly, she is a winner that has succeeded at a high level.
"Her experiences, and the fact that she has been in our program for two years, make her the perfect fit. In addition to this, she has a tremendous amount of energy and passion for the game and for people. Those characteristics are priceless and will serve her well in her new role."
Prior to joining the staff at Evansville, Malone enjoyed a successful playing career at Purdue, making three trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a pair of Elite Eight appearances. She was a three-time Big Ten All-Defensive Team and Academic All-Big Ten selection. "I am very excited about what the staff is doing here at the University of Evansville," Malone said. "The opportunity to be a part of such a bright future is an honor. I hope to bring an energy and perspective that will be beneficial to the program and help it continue on the path of success."
A native of Evansville, Malone was a four-year starter at Memorial, setting the school's steals record. She set the same mark at Purdue, ending her career with 351 steals as a Boilermaker.
