IOWA CITY, Iowa – Today was the first day of individual events at the MVC Swimming and Diving Championship.
 
The Aces currently sit in 7^th place, with Missouri State leading the pack.
 
"I am happy with the way we bounced back from this morning's session," said head coach Rickey Perkins. "Danielle had a great swim, a little faster than she went this morning; Kaylee went faster as well. Emma Hennessy coming back, and our relays tonight had a lot of fast times."
 
The sole swimming event competed in by Evansville tonight was the 50 freestyle. Senior Danielle Freeman led the women with a 23.13, which landed her the 6^th place spot on the podium. Sophomore Emma Hennessy participated in the consolation final, taking 15^th place with a final time of 23.99. Junior Kaylee Gubricky represented in the C Final, a 17^th place 24.08. Her morning preliminary round produced a personal best time of 24.01. Also this morning, freshman Sarah Alexander recorded a personal best 25.80.
 
The 200 Freestyle Relay took place tonight as well. Hennessy, junior Kristen Myers, Gubricky, and Freeman teamed up to clock in a 1:34.68 for 6^th place.
 
2017 Diver of the Year Courtney Coverdale took to the 1-Meter board for the last time in her career for tonight's final. The senior scored 285.42 to take 3^rd place. In the afternoon's consolation final, freshman Natalie Gerard took 10^th place with 222.60.
 
"Courtney had some great dives tonight," said Perkins. "Natalie scoring in her first year is incredible. I'm excited to see what will happen tomorrow."
 
Tomorrow morning's preliminary session will begin at 11 a.m. Central Time, consisting of the 200 freestyle, the 400 IM, and the 100s of the strokes.
