Aces open MVC Tournament Thursday against Bradley

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - After concluding the regular season on Saturday, the University of Evansville women's basketball team opens the postseason with the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline, Ill. with a matchup with No. 7 seed Bradley at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Evansville (3-26, 0-18 MVC) heads into the MVC Tournament after concluding the season with road losses at Missouri State and Southern Illinois. The Aces kept pace with Missouri State in the early going in Springfield, Mo. on Thursday before the Lady Bears caught fire and found their offensive rhythm in Missouri State's 97-51 win. On Saturday at Southern Illinois, both Evansville and the Salukis got off to slow offensive starts as the teams combined for just 51 points in the first half. SIU jumped out to a fast start in the third quarter as the Salukis increased their lead to 23 after the third period as SIU earned the 66-41 win.

As the Aces are bound for Hoops In the Heartland in Moline, Ill., Evansville heads into the postseason with recent success in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. UE has won its opening-round game in the MVC Tournament three-straight years and head coach Matt Ruffing has yet to lose an opening-round contest during his tenure. The Aces have won a pair of conference tournaments in program history, both while members of the MVC, winning conference tournament titles in 1999 and 2009.

Evansville and Bradley are meeting for the 51st time in series history as the Braves own a 30-20 advantage over UE in the all-time series. The two sides met twice earlier this season with Bradley winning both matchups, 117-59 in Meeks Family Fieldhouse on January 21 and 92-47 in Peoria, Ill. on February 16. The Braves enter the MVC Tournament with a 12-17 overall record and a 6-12 mark in MVC play and is currently in the midst of a four-game losing streak with Bradley's last win coming on February 16 over the Aces.
