EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The University of Evansville men's soccer team is set to host the Mayor's Cup when the Purple Aces take on crosstown foe USI on Thursday, April 12 at 5:30 p.m. at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
The Mayor's Cup, which has been contested on and off since 2003, has been one of the highlights of the spring slate over the past three seasons. Partnering with the YMCA, tickets to the spring match between the Aces and Screaming Eagles are $5 with all proceeds benefiting after school soccer programs. Students can purchase tickets to the match for $5 and will receive $5 in Turoni's bucks. The first 200 fans will receive a free t-shirt.
Last season, the Aces and Screaming Eagles partnered to raise $2,163 for the YMCA and after school soccer programs.
For the Purple Aces, the match wraps-up a spring slate filled with strong competition including Indiana and Louisville who each advanced to the final eight of the NCAA Tournament in the fall. Evansville is coming off a successful fall season in which the Aces tallied an 11-8-2 record and reached the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The 11-wins marked the first back-to-back double-digit win seasons since 1995 and 1996.
The Screaming Eagles enter the Mayor's Cup after an 11-7-1 campaign in the fall, advancing to the championship game of the 2017 GLVCÂ Tournament.
