OMAHA, Neb. – Saturday was the second day of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Individual Tennis Championship.  After a few defeats on Friday, a number of Aces bounced back with victories on Saturday.

Freshman Kate Chybowski was the lone UE representative in semifinal singles play on Saturday.  Chybowski fell short in the Flight Three semifinal to Illinois State’s Julia Zubkova losing in straight sets 6-0, 6-4. 

Other Aces playing in modified back draw brackets were able to notch some wins.  In Flight One singles, junior Lisa Kawamoto earned a win over Creighton’s Lindsey Erickson 6-1, 7-6.  Senior Sara Wilhoite also found the smiling side of the scoreboard with a win over Creighton’s Lauren Mastro in Flight Two singles by scores of 6-4, 6-2.  UE junior Allie Cox battled hard but fell short in her Flight Four singles match.  She was defeated by Creighton’s Leesa Cadwallader 6-4, 5-7, 10-8.

The event will wrap up on Sunday with matches starting at 8:30 AM.
