Illinois State wrapped up first place Sunday afternoon in Missouri Valley Conference women's soccer, and that victory also wrapped up a first semifinal berth for the University of Evansville in the State Farm MVC Tournament at UE's Black Beauty Field.
By defeating Drake 2-1 on Sunday, Illinois State earned the regular season championship with a 4-0-2 league record, and assured Evansville second place at 3-1-2. Creighton finished third at 3-2-1, Drake is fourth at 3-3-0, Missouri State is fifth with a 2-2-2 league record, and Northern Iowa is the sixth place team with a 1-4-1 record.
Illinois State and Evansville go directly to the semifinals of the State Farm MVC Tournament, which UE hosts November 9 at 5:00 and 7:30 CST at Black Beauty Field. Those two will await results of next Sunday's quarterfinal matches. Illinois State will play the Drake-Missouri State winner in one semifinal match on November 9, and Evansville will take on the Creighton-Northern Iowa winner. The Aces defeated Creighton 1-0 at Black Beauty Field on Friday. The Aces and Northern Iowa tied 0-0 in the first league game of the year on October 5 at Cedar Falls.
The championship match is November 11 at 1:05 at Black Beauty Field, and will be televised by Fox Sports Net Midwest.

Evansville does have one more regular season match remaining, Wednesday at Eastern Kentucky. The 10-3-3 Aces have won 10 matches in each of Coach Chris Pfau's three seasons as head coach. Eastern Kentucky is 3-11-3 after tying Austin Peay 1-1 and defeating Tennessee Tech 2-0 last weekend.
