The University of Evansville tennis team opened up its season with a 7-0 sweep over the visiting Austin Peay Lady Governors at Tri-State Athletic Club Friday night.
In doubles action, freshmen Kate Chybowski and Pin Sorensen defeated Mariana Pagan and Michelle Liew 8-3 in number one doubles. The two combined for a victory in the Aces' Classic in the fall. Veterans Lisa Kawamoto and Sara Wilhoite continued their doubles' success with a 8-2 win over Morgan Klieber and Mary Beth Lefler. Newcomer Riette Kotze and Susan Elliott rounded out doubles action with a 8-3 win at number three.
Kawamoto, Chybowski, Wilhoite, and Sorensen all defeated their opponents in singles action. Junior Allie Cox picked up a victory at number five singles defeating Alexandria Pyle 6-1, 6-4. Junior Stephanie Millis defeated Mary Beth Lefler 6-2, 6-1 at number six singles.
The Aces will return to action Sunday afternoon at Tri-State Athletic Club, hosting IPFW at 10 a.m.
